Editorial approach

• Calm and practical: we do not use fear to sell anything.
• Answer first: every guide starts with a short, direct answer.
• Sourced: where we cite official guidance, we link to it so you can check.
• Updated: each page shows when it was last reviewed.

How we are funded

UK Be Ready is published by the team behind The Home Prep Kit, a ready-made home emergency kit. Links to the kit are clearly labelled. You do not need to buy anything to follow our guidance.

Not official

We are not part of the UK Government, GOV.UK or the official Be Ready campaign, and nothing here is official advice. In an emergency call 999.
